The CBI has registered an FIR against unknown officials of the Uttar Pradesh State Social Welfare Board, UP Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board, Workers Welfare Board, and unknown NGOs and other persons for alleged misappropriation and defalcation of crores of rupees of public money in the implementation and operation of a Sachal Palna Griha(mobile creche) scheme in 72 districts of the state since 2013-14.

WHO WILL clean up Shimla’s poster mess? The issue has started seeking the attention of citizens following the election of the town’s new mayor and deputy mayor on Tuesday. Most of the localities in all 34 wards, falling under the three Assembly constituencies of Shimla (Urban), Shimla (Rural) and Kasumpti, have seen a heavy poster war among all candidates in all the 126 seats. With elections already over, most of the Shimla localities remain defaced by torn posters and walls covered with multi-colour hanging and candidates’s pictures, giving an ugly look to the town.

Haryana: 53 per cent farmers fail to deposit farm loans on time

More than 53% farmers of Haryana have failed to repay farm loans taken from state cooperative banks and societies on time. As many as 7.38 lakh farmers out of the 13.80 lakh farmers, who had taken farm loans from cooperative banks, have been termed “defaulters” by the government agencies. Once the farmers fail to deposit their loan installments on time, they have to return it with 14% interest and their loan goes increasing.

Union Health Minister JP Nadda came down heavily on the UT Administration over lack of proper protocol followed during his visit to the Chandigarh on the eve of International Yoga Day on Wednesday. According to sources, Nadda was ‘disappointed’ that no senior officials from the UT Administration were present at the airport on Tuesday evening to receive him. The Chandigarh administration, sources said, had deputed a Punjab Civil Service(PCS) officer, Amit Talwar to receive him.
