Puri lawyer killing: 3 accused nabbed; mastermind still at large

Bhubaneswar: Police arrested two accused in Puri lawyer Chandan Behera murder case from Gop area late on Tuesday night.

The arrested were identified as Jaga, Kalia and Kapila. However, the main accused, Litu, is still at large.

According to information, the police nabbed the two accused from a abandoned house near Jagulia Temple in Ketakipatana area under the Gop police station. 

It may be noted that Behera, also a lodge owner and a Puri Bar Association owner, was brutally murdered by the accused in Puri town on Sunday. The incident had occurred just behind the Beach police station where Behera owns a hotel named Sai Kutir.

Behera and a friend were about to enter the hotel premises when the assailants, who were positioned well in advance, started attacking the duo with sharp weapons and killed in the spot.

In protest, the Puri Bar Association held a three-day  a cease-work for the last three days. Bar associations of different districts also supported the stir launched by the Puri bar. Similarly, the High Court Bar Association also held 1-day cease-work on Tuesday demanding the arrest of the culprits.
