Ravichandran Ashwin bags CEAT Cricketer of the Year Award 2016-17

Ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin bagged the ‘Cricketer of the Year Award’ for 2016-17, at the CEAT Cricket Awards ceremony held in Mumbai on Wednesday. Ashwin, who remained at the forefront of India’s dominating run in the last season, also shattered several records and created new ones as he bagged the most prestigious award at the ceremony. Ashwin played a key role in India’s series wins over West Indies (away), New Zealand, England and Australia. In the 2016-17, Ashwin bettered South African pacer Dale Steyn’s record of claiming most wickets in a Test season. With his 79th wicket, Ashwin went past Steyn’s record of 78 in March this year.
