Bhubaneswar: As was expected the senior BJD leader and the lone candidate for the vacant Rajya Sabha seat from Odisha Pratap Keshari Deb was elected to the Upper House uncontested today. A formal announce in this connection was made by the Rajya Sabha returning officer today noon.
Election of Deb to the vacant Upper House seat was evident from the fact that, the Opposition Parties in the State has not fielded any candidate against him.
The seat was lying vacant since the resignation of former MP Bishnu Charan Das from his post in March this year. Bishnu resigned on March 21 after being appointed as the new deputy chairman of the Odisha State Planning Board (OSPB).
