WannaCry virus in Purushottampur CHC; CB team rushes

Bhubaneswar: Computes of the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Purushottampur in Ganjam district have fallen prey to WannaCry virus attack and Cyber police would investigate it, said State Crime Branch Special Dg Bijay Kumar Sharma.

“Crime Branch team on way to Purusottampur to probe Ransomware cyber-attack on local hospital,” tweeted Sharma.

It may be noted that computers of Information Management System of the Brahmapur city hospital were hacked by Ransomware virus on Tuesday. A three-member team is probing into the incident now.

Over two lakh computers in at least 150 countries are said to have been infected with WannaCry virus, according to Europol, the European Union’s law enforcement agency.
