Bhubaneswar: With the faceoff between Odisha and Chhatisgarh government over sharing of Mahanadi river water still persists, Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray has brought a new allegation today claiming that, the neighbouring States barrage construction on upstream Brahmani would give rise to water woes in the State.

Taking to twitter today, the BJP leader Ray feared that, Chhatisgarh’s under construction barrage on the upper catchment area of river Brahmani in Chhatisgarh would give rise to water scarcity in Rourkela along with other Western Odisha districts. He was of the opinion that, if the barrages being constructed gets functional then districts like Sundergarh, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajpur, and Kendrapara would reel under acute shortage of water for agriculture.

Appealing Odisha Government to swing into action Ray suggested calling a Special Session of the Assembly immediately in this connection to discuss the issue.
