Major fire in Dhenkanal village; 12 houses gutted, 7 suffer from asphyxiation

Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, more than seven persons suffered from asphyxiation caused due to intense smokes emanated from a major fire in Gengutia Mohanty Sahi under the Dhenkanal Sadar police station in Dhenkanal district late on Wednesday night.  

As many as 12 houses were burnt to ashes in the fire, which was doused by fire personnel after hours of attempt, according to reports.

Of the injured, four persons, including an infant, have been shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Of them, condition of one Ranjan Behera is stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, a team of district administration have reached the spot and extended support to the affected families. Similalry, another team has moved to the SCB to see to patients admitted there.

The admission is stated to have declared to provide cooking food to the affected families for three days and to start restoration work immediately. The affected families have been given Rs 4,100 each.
