After the tabling of the report, the Odisha Government would decide on the grade pay, pay scale, various categories of salaries and allowances for public sector employees and pensioners in the State.

Informing on the submission of the report, the Fitness Committee Chairman R Balakrishnan said the report has been prepared after consultation with several employees’ association in the State. While the Fitment committee was given a task of holding discussion with 117 employee’s associations, several of them were told to submit their demands in writing.

Notably, the Fitment Committee which was given a task initially to submit its report within four months got it extended further at a later stage. Similarly, the non-clarification of budgetary allocations for implementation of the 7th Pay Commission recommendations in the state budget was also a hindrance for the implementation of the Commission’s recommendations.

The 6-member Fitment Committee was formed on October 31 last year.
