Bhubaneswar: In what could be dubbed as a final respite for the denizens in the state suffering from scorching heatwave since months, the MeT department predicted today that the Monsoon is only two to three days away from Odisha. Similarly, it predicted low pressure induced rainfall in coastal Odisha shortly.
“Yesterday’s low pressure area over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal off South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh Coast now lies over Northern parts of Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Bay of Bengal. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level. The system is very likely to be Well Marked Low Pressure Area during next 48 hours,” said a MeT release.
It predicted heavy rainfall likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Ganjam, during next 24 hours.
Rain/thundershower is likely to occur at many places over Coastal odisha and at a few places over Interior districts of Odisha during next 24 hours, it added.
