Bhubaneswar: Heatwave continued to sizzle west, south-west Odisha with 10 places recording above 40 degree Celsius. Bolangir was hottest at 44.5 degree Celsius.
Bolangir was followed by Titilagarh (44), Bhawanipatna (43.7), Malkangiri (42.4), Angul (42.3), Hirakud (41.4), Talcher (41), Jharsuguda (41), Sambalpur (40.6) and Sundargarh (40.5), respectively.
Meanwhile, the local meteorological centre warned of thunder squall accompanied with hail/rain and wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph at one or two places two places over coastal Odisha and adjoining Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Rayagada till April 19. Weather will most likely to be dry over rest parts of Odisha during this period.
On Monday, at least ten places witnessed above 40 degree Celsius. Bhawanipatna was the hottest place in the State at 43.5 degree Celsius, while the western region continued to sizzle under searing heat for last few weeks.
