No respite from heatwave; Bolangir sizzles at 44.5 degree Celsius

Bhubaneswar: There was no relief from the heatwave conditions as the sweltering heat intensified in most parts of the State on Friday with Bolangir becoming the hottest place in at 44.5 degree Celsius. Apart from Bolangir, 12 places recorded above 40 degree Celsius today.

Bolangir was followed by Titlagarh at 44 degree Celsius. The temperature whizzed past 43.7 degree Celsius at Angul, it was 43 degree Celsius at Jharsuguda, Hirakud and Bhawanipatna, 42.6 degree Celsius at Malkangiri, 42.5 degree Celsius at Sundargarh, 42 degree Celsius at Sambalpur and Sonepur, 41.4 degree Celsius at Phulbani, 40.5 degree Celsius in at Keonjhar and 40.2 degree Celsius in Chandbali, said a local MeT centre release.

The maximum temperature in Bhubaneswar was settled at 38.2 degree Celsius and 37.5 degree Celsius in neighbouring Cuttack city, it added.
