Searing heat persists in W Odisha, respite in coastal pockets

Bhubaneswar: Searing heat continue to persist in western Odisha with Titlagarh becoming the hottest place in the State recording 42.5 degree Celsius today, even  as mercury dropped across the coastal districts bringing respite in the coastal region.

The mercury breached the 40-degree mark in at least seven places in the State. Titilagarh was followed by Sambalpur (42.2), Jharsuguda (42), Hirakud (41.6), Bhawanipatna (41), , Chandbali (40.2) and Angul (40.1).

Sources said thundersquall and rain due to a nor'wester occurred in some parts of coastal belt and adjoining areas bringing relief for the people.
